Nur-Sultan becomes one of the coldest capitals on earth. Only visit in winter if you're serious about cold-weather activities or want to see the northern lights. Shoulder seasons work well for budget travelers. April can be muddy as snow melts, but accommodation costs drop significantly. October brings clear skies and comfortable temperatures, though mountain passes start closing. The key is layering — weather changes fast on the steppes.
