Khorog in July
Great time to visit
July is one of the best months to visit Khorog.
All Months
June through September offers the only reliable window for Khorog visits. Winter temperatures drop to -20°F and many mountain passes close entirely. July and August provide the warmest weather, with daytime temperatures reaching 70°F, though nights still drop to freezing.
September brings stunning autumn colors to the valleys, but weather becomes unpredictable after mid-month. June can still have snow at higher elevations, but the main roads stay open.
The Pamir Highway typically opens fully by late June, though some high passes like Ak-Baital remain sketchy until July. If you're planning the full highway circuit to Osh, Kyrgyzstan, aim for July or August when all routes are reliably passable.
