Kuala Lumpur in April
Great time to visit
April is one of the best months to visit Kuala Lumpur.
All Months
March through August offers the most reliable weather. You'll still get afternoon thunderstorms, but they're brief and actually provide relief from the heat. Temperatures hover around 32°C (90°F) during the day, dropping to a comfortable 24°C (75°F) at night.
Avoid Chinese New Year (late January/early February) unless you enjoy crowds and inflated prices. Many local restaurants close for a week, though the decorations around KLCC and malls are spectacular. Hotel rates can double during this period.
Ramadan creates an interesting dynamic. Daytime feels quieter as many locals fast, but the evening markets explode with energy. Food courts stay open, and you'll find some of the year's best deals on hotels.
The monsoon season (September to February) brings heavier rain, but it's not the trip-killer you might expect. Rain typically falls in the late afternoon or evening, lasting 1-2 hours. Pack an umbrella and embrace the drama – KL looks beautiful in the rain.
School holidays (March, June, November-December) mean more local tourists, especially at attractions like the Petronas Towers and Batu Caves. Book skybridge tickets in advance during these periods.
