April through June brings the best weather — sunny days in the 70s with minimal fog. The hills turn green from winter rains, and you can actually see Mount Tamalpais clearly. September and October offer similar conditions with warmer temperatures. Summer means fog. Lots of it. Mornings start gray and cold, then maybe clear by afternoon. Pack layers always. July averages 65 degrees, which shocks visitors expecting California heat. Winter brings rain but also fewer crowds. January through March sees the most precipitation, but you'll have restaurants to yourself. The ferry still runs, and indoor activities like wine tasting work perfectly. Just bring waterproof shoes for those creek-side walks.
