Lourdes in November
Good time to visit
November is a reasonable time to visit Lourdes.
All Months
Peak pilgrimage season runs April through October, with July and August bringing the biggest crowds. The Feast of the Assumption on August 15th draws 100,000 pilgrims—hotels book solid and prices double. If you're coming for the spiritual experience, this intensity adds to it. If you prefer quiet contemplation, avoid summer entirely.
May offers the best balance—mild weather, blooming Pyrenees, and manageable crowds. The sanctuary stays open year-round, but many hotels and restaurants close November through March. Winter visits feel more intimate but limit your dining options.
The evening torchlight procession happens nightly from Easter to October at 9 PM. In winter, it moves to 8:30 PM on weekends only. Time your visit around this if possible—watching thousands of candles wind through the darkness creates an otherworldly atmosphere.
