Madagascar in August
Great time to visit
August is one of the best months to visit Madagascar.
All Months
April through October gives you the dry season — perfect for wildlife spotting and road travel. July and August bring cool temperatures in the highlands (pack a jacket for Antsirabe), while coastal areas stay warm year-round. September and October are ideal — wildlife is active, roads are passable, and you'll avoid the Christmas crowds. Cyclone season runs November through March, bringing heavy rains and flooding that can strand you for days. But here's the upside of wet season: fewer tourists, lusher landscapes, and baby lemurs. If you don't mind mud and occasional flight delays, February and March offer incredible photography opportunities. Just avoid January — it's peak cyclone time and many parks close sections due to flooding.
