Mali in July
Not the best time
July isn't ideal for Mali. Consider a different month.
All Months
November through March is the only reasonable time to visit. Temperatures hover around 85°F (30°C) during the day and drop to comfortable levels at night. The harmattan winds bring dust but also relief from humidity.
April starts getting uncomfortably hot, and by May you're looking at temperatures over 110°F (43°C). The rainy season from June to October brings some relief but also flooding, impassable roads, and high humidity.
December and January are peak months, which means slightly higher prices and more travelers, though 'crowded' is relative in Mali. February offers the best balance of good weather and fewer visitors.
Ramadan affects travel significantly. Restaurants close during daylight hours, and the pace of life slows down. Check the Islamic calendar before booking. The post-Ramadan celebrations can be spectacular to witness, but expect everything to shut down for several days.
