Mauritius in October

Great time to visit

October is one of the best months to visit Mauritius.

All Months

May through November is your sweet spot — dry season, cooler temperatures, and those famous trade winds that keep things comfortable. July and August are peak season, meaning higher prices and crowded beaches, but also the most reliable weather. The shoulder months of May, June, September, and October offer the best balance of good weather and reasonable crowds. December through April brings cyclone season and humidity that'll have you questioning your life choices. But here's the thing: the island stays green, the waterfalls are at their most dramatic, and hotel rates drop significantly. If you can handle afternoon thunderstorms and the occasional cyclone warning, you'll save serious money and see a different side of Mauritius. January and February are the worst for weather but best for your wallet. Cyclone season runs December to April, but actual cyclones are rare. Most of the time, you're dealing with heavy afternoon rains and muggy conditions. The water temperature stays perfect year-round (24-27°C), so swimming is always on the table. Just pack a light rain jacket if you're visiting during summer months.
