Mekong Delta in May

Good time to visit

May is a reasonable time to visit Mekong Delta.

All Months

December through April offers the best weather - sunny, dry, and less humid. Temperatures hover around 26-30°C, perfect for boat trips and cycling. This is peak season, so book accommodation in advance. May through November brings rain, floods, and oppressive humidity. But here's the thing - wet season has its charms. The landscape turns emerald green, fruit is at its peak, and tourist crowds thin out. July and August see the heaviest flooding, when entire areas become temporary lakes. It's dramatic but can disrupt travel plans. September and October offer a sweet spot - rains are lighter, temperatures drop slightly, and you'll have floating markets mostly to yourself. Avoid Tet holiday (late January/early February) when everything shuts down and prices spike. The shoulder months of November and May can be pleasant if you don't mind occasional showers.
