Middle East in November

Great time to visit

November is one of the best months to visit Middle East.

All Months

October through April is prime time for most of the region. Summer temperatures in the Gulf can hit 115°F with humidity that feels like breathing through a wet towel. I learned this the hard way in Dubai in August—even the five-minute walk from taxi to mall left me drenched. Turkey and the Levant (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan) are more forgiving. Istanbul in summer is pleasant, though August gets crowded with European tourists. Jordan's desert locations like Wadi Rum are magical in winter—clear skies, comfortable days, chilly nights perfect for stargazing. Ramadan changes everything. Many restaurants close during daylight hours, attractions have reduced hours, but the evening iftar celebrations are incredible cultural experiences. Just plan accordingly—and don't eat or drink publicly during fasting hours out of respect. Weather aside, consider regional events. Dubai's shopping festival in January offers serious discounts but massive crowds. Israeli holidays shut down much of the country. Iranian New Year (Nowruz) in March brings beautiful celebrations but fully booked accommodations. Here's what works: November-March for Gulf states, April-October for Turkey and mountain regions, year-round for Israel (though summer's hot). Iran is lovely in spring and fall.
