Mondulkiri in August

Not the best time

August isn't ideal for Mondulkiri. Consider a different month.

All Months

November through April is prime time. The rains have stopped, roads are passable, and temperatures hover around 25°C during the day, dropping to 15°C at night. You'll actually need a jacket here, unlike the rest of Cambodia. December and January are perfect – clear skies, green landscapes, and comfortable hiking weather. February through April gets hotter but stays manageable thanks to the elevation. May through October is rainy season, and it's serious business. Roads become impassable, some waterfalls turn dangerous, and many guesthouses close. But here's the thing: if you can handle the mud, the landscape is incredible during rains. Everything turns emerald green, waterfalls are at full power, and you'll have the place mostly to yourself. Just book accommodation ahead since options are limited. The coffee harvest happens from November to February, so you can visit plantations and see the process. Avoid Khmer New Year in April unless you enjoy crowds and inflated prices.
