Winter is Napa's secret season: tasting rooms are quiet, hotel rates drop by half, and you'll actually talk to the winemakers instead of rushed servers. Rain is possible January through March, but cozy tasting rooms with fireplaces make up for it. Avoid major holidays and harvest weekends unless you enjoy bumper-to-bumper traffic on Highway 29. Weekdays year-round offer better service, lower prices, and easier reservations at top restaurants.
