December through April gives you the best weather – less humidity, minimal rain. But this is also peak season, so expect higher prices and crowds at major sites. The shoulder months of November and May offer good compromises. Avoid September and October – hurricane season brings unpredictable weather and many attractions close early. The city comes alive during Carnival season in February, but book accommodations well in advance. Summer months are hot and sticky, but you'll have the place more to yourself. Rain usually comes in short, intense bursts rather than all-day affairs.
