Northeast Florida in September
Good time to visit
September is a reasonable time to visit Northeast Florida.
All Months
March through May brings the best weather — warm days, cool nights, and manageable humidity. Spring break crowds hit in March, but they mostly stick to Daytona Beach further south.
Fall (October-November) offers another sweet spot. The ocean stays warm from summer, but air temperatures drop into the comfortable 70s. Hurricane season officially runs through November, but most storms track further south.
Summer means heat, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms. But it also brings the warmest ocean temperatures and longer days. Just plan indoor activities for the hottest part of the afternoon (2-5 PM).
Winter can surprise you. Some days hit 75°F and feel perfect for beach walks. Others barely crack 50°F with gusty winds off the Atlantic. Pack layers if you're visiting December through February.
Avoid major holiday weekends unless you book accommodations well in advance. Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day bring crowds that can double restaurant wait times and beach parking fees.
