Northern Arizona in June
Good time to visit
June is a reasonable time to visit Northern Arizona.
All Months
April and May are magic – wildflowers bloom, temperatures hit the sweet spot, and you can hike without melting. But everyone knows this, so expect crowds and higher prices.
September through November might be even better. Summer crowds thin out, fall colors paint the aspens gold, and you get crisp hiking weather without the spring break chaos.
Winter has its charms if you're prepared. Sedona gets the occasional snow dusting that makes the red rocks pop. Flagstaff becomes a proper ski town with Arizona Snowbowl operating December through April. Just pack layers – it can be 70°F in Sedona and 30°F in Flagstaff the same day.
Avoid July and August unless you enjoy hiking in 100°F heat. Even at elevation, summer days are brutal. Plus monsoon season brings afternoon thunderstorms that can flash flood slot canyons.
Here's an insider tip: late November through early December is criminally underrated. Most tourists stay home for holidays, but weather is still mild and hotel rates drop significantly.
