Northern Territory in September
Great time to visit
September is one of the best months to visit Northern Territory.
All Months
May through September delivers perfect Territory weather – clear skies, warm days, and cool nights that actually require a jacket. This is peak season, so book accommodations early and expect crowds at Uluru's sunrise viewing areas.
April and October offer shoulder season sweet spots. Temperatures hover in the comfortable range, but you'll dodge some crowds and save money on flights. October brings wildflowers to the Red Centre after good rains.
Avoid November through March unless you enjoy feeling like you're inside a hair dryer. The Top End gets monsoon rains that flood roads and make outdoor activities miserable. The Red Centre just gets brutally hot – we're talking 45°C days that make walking to your car an ordeal. Some attractions close entirely, and the few tourists you'll see look like they're questioning their life choices.
