Northwest Michigan in March

Not the best time

March isn't ideal for Northwest Michigan. Consider a different month.

All Months

July and August bring peak crowds and prices, but also perfect beach weather and festival season. The National Cherry Festival in Traverse City runs early July with live music and cherry pit spitting contests. September offers the sweet spot — warm days, cool nights, harvest season at wineries, and dramatically fewer crowds. October delivers spectacular fall colors, especially along M-22, though some attractions start closing. June works well if you don't mind cooler lake temperatures and occasional rain. Winter transforms the region into cross-country skiing territory, but many restaurants and attractions shut down November through March.
