Oaxaca Coast in November

Great time to visit

November is one of the best months to visit Oaxaca Coast.

All Months

November through April delivers the coast's best weather. Temperatures hover around 28°C, humidity drops, and rain becomes rare. This is peak season, so expect higher prices and busier beaches. Surf season runs April through September, with the biggest swells hitting Puerto Escondido between June and August. The Mexican Pipeline can reach 4-6 meters during this period, attracting international competitions. But it's also hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms. Turtle season peaks between July and December. Mazunte's sanctuary releases baby turtles almost nightly during these months, creating one of the coast's most magical experiences. Book releases in advance since they limit group sizes. Avoid September and October if possible. These months bring the heaviest rains and strongest storms. Roads flood, some restaurants close temporarily, and the humidity becomes oppressive. But prices drop significantly if you can handle the weather. Here's a local tip: late February and early March offer the sweet spot. Weather is perfect, crowds are manageable, and you'll catch the tail end of turtle season in some areas.
