Oman in April
Great time to visit
April is one of the best months to visit Oman.
All Months
October through April delivers Oman's sweet spot. Temperatures hover in the 70s and 80s°F, perfect for hiking Jebel Shams or camping in the desert. January and February see the coolest weather, ideal for long drives through the interior.
Summer turns brutal. Temperatures hit 120°F in the desert, making outdoor activities dangerous. The coast stays slightly cooler but humidity makes everything sticky. Hotels slash prices, but you'll spend most daylight hours indoors.
The khareef season (June-September) transforms Salalah in the south. Monsoon rains turn the region green, creating Oman's only cool summer destination. Waterfalls appear, frankincense trees bloom, and Omanis flock here for vacation. Book early – hotels fill up.
Ramadan affects travel timing. Restaurants close during daylight hours, though hotels serve guests privately. The evening iftar meals become social events worth experiencing, but day trips require more planning.
Avoid the Muscat Festival in January-February if you want quiet exploration. The city fills with regional visitors, hotels raise rates, and traffic increases significantly.
