Pacific Rim National Park in January

Not the best time

January isn't ideal for Pacific Rim National Park. Consider a different month.

All Months

June through September offers the driest weather and warmest temperatures, though 'warm' means 18-22°C (64-72°F). July and August see the least rain but the biggest crowds. September brings whale migration season and fewer tourists, but weather becomes unpredictable. Storm watching season runs November through February — dramatic but cold and wet. Spring (April-May) stays soggy but offers blooming salmonberries and returning migratory birds. Winter storms create spectacular wave action at Chesterman Beach, but many trails close due to flooding. Surfers prefer fall and winter for bigger swells, wearing full wetsuits year-round. The West Coast Trail operates May 1 to September 30 only. Shoulder seasons (May and October) balance decent weather with smaller crowds, though you'll need serious rain protection.
