Phoenix Metropolitan Area in September
Good time to visit
September is a reasonable time to visit Phoenix Metropolitan Area.
All Months
October through April is peak season for good reason – daytime temps hover in the 70s and 80s, perfect for hiking Camelback Mountain or lounging poolside. January and February bring the snowbirds and highest hotel prices, but also baseball spring training and perfect weather for outdoor concerts. March and April offer the best of both worlds: warm days, cool nights, and desert wildflowers if winter rains were decent. May gets hot fast – by Memorial Day, you're looking at 100-degree afternoons. Summer is brutal but cheap. July averages 106 degrees, and touching your car door handle becomes a legitimate safety concern. But resort pools transform into oases, and you'll have hiking trails to yourself at sunrise. September starts the slow cool-down, though it's still too hot for most outdoor activities until October.
