Providence-Warwick Area in October

May through October gives you the full Providence experience. WaterFire events run from May to November, lighting up the rivers downtown with 80 bonfires. Summer brings outdoor concerts to Waterplace Park and festival season to Federal Hill. The restaurant patios open, and suddenly everyone remembers why they live here. Fall hits different in New England — Brown and RISD students return, energizing the nightlife scene. October brings perfect weather for walking the historic neighborhoods and catching shows at Trinity Repertory Company. Winter strips away the crowds but also the charm. Many restaurants reduce hours, and the waterfront feels abandoned. Spring arrives late but sweet, usually hitting its stride by mid-April when the food trucks return to downtown.
