Puebla in September
Not the best time
September isn't ideal for Puebla. Consider a different month.
All Months
October through April gives you the best weather — warm days around 75°F and cool nights perfect for walking. December and January can get chilly in the evenings, so pack a jacket. The rainy season runs May through September, with afternoon thunderstorms that clear up quickly but turn the cobblestone streets into slip hazards. September is peak chile en nogada season if you're a foodie — every restaurant has their version of the patriotic dish with green chiles, white walnut sauce, and red pomegranate seeds. Easter week brings massive crowds and higher prices, but also incredible processions through the historic center. Cinco de Mayo actually means something here since the famous battle happened just outside the city, so expect festivals, parades, and packed restaurants. November offers perfect weather and fewer tourists, making it the sweet spot for visiting.
