Railay Beach in September
Not the best time
September isn't ideal for Railay Beach. Consider a different month.
All Months
November through April delivers Railay's peak conditions – dry skies, calm seas, and perfect climbing weather. December and January see the biggest crowds and highest prices, but also the most reliable sunshine.
March and April bring intense heat that can make midday climbing uncomfortable, but the beaches stay beautiful and accommodation rates drop slightly. Early morning climbs become essential during these months.
The monsoon season from May through October turns Railay into a different place entirely. Heavy rains can strand visitors for days when longtail boats can't safely operate. But if you're flexible with travel dates, you'll find dramatically cheaper accommodation and have popular climbing routes to yourself.
Climbers should note that limestone stays slippery for hours after rain, making the sport dangerous during wet season. Beach lovers might appreciate the dramatic storm watching, but swimming becomes risky when seas turn rough.
