Riviera Maya in June
Not the best time
June isn't ideal for Riviera Maya. Consider a different month.
All Months
November through April delivers the Riviera Maya at its finest – dry skies, lower humidity, and temperatures that hover around 80°F. This is peak season, which means higher prices and bigger crowds, but the weather makes it worthwhile.
December and January see the most visitors, especially around Christmas and New Year's when hotel prices can triple. If you're flexible, late January and February offer the same great weather with fewer people and better deals.
March brings spring breakers to Playa del Carmen and Cancún, though the chaos mostly stays north of Tulum. The weather remains perfect, but expect louder nights in party-focused areas.
April marks the end of peak season with rising temperatures but still minimal rain. This can be a sweet spot – good weather, fewer crowds, and prices starting to drop.
May through October is hurricane season, but don't let that scare you off completely. Most days stay sunny and hot, with brief afternoon thunderstorms that actually provide welcome relief. Hotel prices drop significantly, and you'll have beaches largely to yourself. Just avoid September and October when hurricane risk peaks.
The rainy season isn't constant downpours – expect an hour or two of heavy rain most afternoons, then clearing skies. Morning activities work perfectly, and the jungle comes alive with incredible green intensity.
Sea turtle nesting happens from May to October, with peak activity in July and August. If seeing turtles is a priority, the summer heat and humidity might be worth enduring.
