Sal in September

Not the best time

September isn't ideal for Sal. Consider a different month.

All Months

November through May delivers Sal's best weather and strongest winds. This dry season brings consistent 25-knot trade winds that windsurfers and kitesurfers dream about. Temperatures hover around 24-28°C (75-82°F), with minimal rainfall and plenty of sunshine. December and January see the biggest crowds, especially around Christmas and New Year's. Hotel prices peak during these months, and popular restaurants require reservations. But the energy level stays high, with beach parties and live music happening regularly. February through April offers a sweet spot - great weather with fewer tourists than peak season. You'll find better deals on accommodation and have more space on the beaches. May marks the transition period. Winds start to weaken, but conditions remain good for water sports. Temperatures begin climbing, but humidity stays manageable. June through October brings the rainy season, though "rainy" is relative - Sal receives very little precipitation year-round. Winds drop significantly during these months, making it less appealing for wind-dependent sports. However, temperatures are warmest, and you'll find the lowest prices on hotels and flights. August and September can feel quite hot and humid, with temperatures reaching 30°C (86°F) or higher. The upside? You'll practically have the beaches to yourself.
