San Cristóbal in October
Great time to visit
October is one of the best months to visit San Cristóbal.
All Months
June through January offers the sweet spot for San Cristóbal. The garúa season from June to November brings cooler temperatures around 70-75°F and calmer seas — perfect for snorkeling and diving. Marine life peaks during these months as nutrient-rich currents attract hammerheads, whale sharks, and manta rays.
December and January transition into the warm season with temperatures climbing to 80-85°F. This timing catches the best of both seasons — still-active marine life from the cool months plus warmer water temperatures that make long snorkeling sessions comfortable.
The hot season from February to May brings rain, humidity, and rougher seas. But it also delivers the most active terrestrial wildlife. Sea lions pup during this time, marine iguanas nest, and bird activity peaks. Hotel rates drop significantly, making it budget-friendly despite the weather challenges.
Avoid March and April if possible — these months see the heaviest rainfall and highest humidity. Tour cancellations become more common due to rough seas.
