San Juan in October

Not the best time

October isn't ideal for San Juan. Consider a different month.

All Months

December through May delivers the goods – dry weather, trade winds keeping things comfortable, and minimal hurricane risk. High season means higher prices, but also means everything's open and running smoothly. January and February offer the sweet spot. Hotel rates drop slightly after New Year's, but weather stays perfect. Expect highs around 82°F and lows in the mid-70s. Rain happens, but usually in quick afternoon bursts. March brings spring breakers, especially to Condado's beach scene. If you're not into college crowds, stick to Old San Juan or Santurce during this time. April and May see fewer tourists but great weather continues. This is when locals reclaim their city, and you'll get more authentic experiences. Summer (June-August) cranks up the heat and humidity. But it also brings festival season – Noche de San Juan in June turns the entire city into a massive beach party. Just pack extra deodorant and embrace the sweat. Hurricane season (June-November) keeps some travelers away, but San Juan's infrastructure has improved dramatically since Hurricane Maria. September and October pose the highest risk, but deals on hotels can be significant.
