April through October gives you the best weather, but each season tells a different story. Long days, warm evenings, and every outdoor cafe in full swing. But expect crowds at the major sites and book accommodations early. September might be the sweet spot. The summer heat breaks, locals return from vacation, and you get that back-to-school energy without the tourist chaos. Plus, the surrounding mountains start their fall color show. Winter has its own charm if you don't mind the cold. Snow transforms Sarajevo into something from a fairy tale, and you'll have the city mostly to yourself. Just know that some mountain day trips become impossible, and heating in budget accommodations can be hit-or-miss.
