Senegal in July
Not the best time
July isn't ideal for Senegal. Consider a different month.
All Months
November through April is golden time - dry season means clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and dusty harmattan winds that create spectacular sunsets. December and January are peak months when Europeans escape winter, so book ahead.
The rains from June to October bring a different Senegal. Everything turns green, temperatures drop, and hotel prices plummet. But roads can flood, and some remote areas become inaccessible. If you don't mind occasional downpours, you'll have many places to yourself.
March and April heat up significantly - we're talking 90°F+ in Dakar, hotter inland. But it's also when the cultural calendar explodes. The Saint-Louis Jazz Festival happens in May, while wrestling season peaks around this time. Just pack light, breathable clothes and plenty of sunscreen.
