Sichuan Province in June
Good time to visit
June is a reasonable time to visit Sichuan Province.
All Months
Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) offer the sweet spot for Sichuan travel. Temperatures hover in the comfortable 15-25°C range, rainfall stays manageable, and you avoid the summer crowds.
March through May brings blooming flowers and comfortable hiking weather. The giant pandas are more active in cooler temperatures, making spring ideal for panda watching. But some high-altitude areas might still have snow, limiting access to places like Jiuzhaigou.
Autumn delivers Sichuan's best weather overall. September through November sees clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and stunning fall colors in mountainous areas. This is peak season for good reason — book accommodations early.
Summer (June-August) brings heat, humidity, and crowds to the basin areas around Chengdu. Temperatures climb above 30°C with high humidity. But summer is actually ideal for western Sichuan's high-altitude areas, when mountain passes open and weather stabilizes.
Winter (December-February) keeps temperatures mild in Chengdu but can be harsh in mountain areas. Some high-altitude destinations become inaccessible due to snow. However, winter means fewer crowds and lower prices in the main tourist areas.
