Southeast Asia in May

Good time to visit

May is a reasonable time to visit Southeast Asia.

All Months

November through March delivers perfect weather across most of Southeast Asia — think 80°F days and cool evenings. This is peak season, so expect crowds and higher prices. April and May turn brutally hot, especially inland. Monsoon season (June-October) varies by country, but don't write it off completely. Rain usually means afternoon downpours, not all-day drizzle. Plus, everything costs less and you'll have temples to yourself. Thailand's cool season (November-February) coincides with burning season in the north — Chiang Mai's air quality suffers. Vietnam works year-round if you follow the weather north to south. Singapore stays consistently muggy but manageable.
