July and August deliver perfect beach weather and peak tourist chaos - expect hour-long waits at popular restaurants. September might be ideal: warm days, cool nights, and locals reclaim their towns. October brings spectacular foliage and oyster season, though some seasonal businesses close. Winter has its own stark beauty, but most coastal attractions shut down. Spring comes late and muddy - skip April and May unless you enjoy 50-degree drizzle.
