Southern Thailand in March

Great time to visit

March is one of the best months to visit Southern Thailand.

All Months

November through April delivers perfect weather—sunny skies, calm seas, and temperatures around 28-32°C. This is peak season, so expect crowds and higher prices. December and January see the biggest rush, especially around Christmas and New Year when hotel rates double. February and March offer the sweet spot: great weather with slightly fewer tourists. April gets hot—sometimes hitting 35°C—but it's manageable near the coast. The monsoon season splits the region: the Andaman side (Phuket, Krabi) gets hammered May through October, while the Gulf side (Koh Samui, Koh Tao) sees its worst weather September through November. But here's a secret: rainy season isn't constant downpours. You get intense afternoon storms followed by clear skies. Accommodation drops to half price, and you'll have beaches mostly to yourself. Just avoid September and October when seas get genuinely rough and some boat services shut down.
