Spiti Valley in July
Great time to visit
July is one of the best months to visit Spiti Valley.
All Months
June through September is your window, period. May might work if you're lucky with snow clearance, and October if you don't mind freezing nights. July and August bring the most reliable weather but also the most crowds — which in Spiti means maybe 50 other tourists instead of 10. June offers clearer roads and fewer people but lingering snow on high passes. September delivers perfect weather with crisp days and star-filled nights, plus harvest season means fresh barley and vegetables. Winter is brutal — temperatures drop to -30°C and most villages become completely cut off. Even summer nights dip below freezing, so pack accordingly. The valley gets 300+ days of sunshine annually, but weather changes fast. Morning can be perfect while afternoon brings sudden snow squalls. Check road conditions obsessively because a single landslide can trap you for days.
