Sumba in December
Not the best time
December isn't ideal for Sumba. Consider a different month.
All Months
Dry season runs April through October, with July and August offering perfect conditions. Temperatures hover around 28°C, humidity drops, and roads become passable. This is peak season for good reason.
April and May bring fewer crowds but occasional afternoon showers. The landscape explodes in green after wet season, and waterfalls run at full power. Hotel rates drop 30% compared to peak months.
September and October offer the sweet spot between weather and crowds. Surf conditions peak, diving visibility maxes out, and you'll have beaches largely to yourself. Book accommodations early – word is spreading about these months.
Avoid November through March unless you enjoy mud wrestling. The wet season turns roads into quagmires and makes village visits impossible. Some remote accommodations close entirely during these months.
