Suriname in February

Great time to visit

February is one of the best months to visit Suriname.

All Months

Suriname has two dry seasons and two wet seasons, but calling them 'dry' is relative — this is rainforest country. February through April offers the most sunshine and least rainfall, making it prime time for jungle treks and river expeditions. August through November provides another window of decent weather, though occasional showers keep things interesting. Avoid May through July unless you enjoy daily downpours that can strand you in remote areas. December and January bring heavy rains that make many interior roads impassable. But here's the upside of wet season travel: fewer tourists, lower prices, and the rainforest at its most lush and alive. Temperatures hover around 80-85°F year-round with brutal humidity. Pack lightweight, quick-dry clothing and accept that you'll be sweaty most of the time. The interior regions can be 5-10 degrees cooler, especially along rivers where breezes provide relief.
