Taiwan in May

Great time to visit

May is one of the best months to visit Taiwan.

All Months

March through May brings Taiwan's best weather. Cherry blossoms bloom in Yangmingshan National Park, temperatures hover around 75°F, and humidity stays manageable. Hotel prices spike during this sweet spot, so book early. October to December offers another perfect window. Fall colors paint the mountains, typhoon season ends, and you can actually enjoy hiking without melting. The Alishan sunrise train runs more reliably during these months too. Summer means typhoons and humidity that'll make you question your life choices. But here's the upside — hotel prices drop 40%, and the east coast beaches hit their stride. Just check weather forecasts obsessively. Winter surprises visitors with how cold it gets. Taipei rarely sees snow, but temperatures can drop to 50°F and the rain never seems to stop. Hot springs season though — Beitou and Jiufen become magical when mist rolls through the mountains.
