Tamil Nadu in June

Not the best time

June isn't ideal for Tamil Nadu. Consider a different month.

All Months

Tamil Nadu's weather runs on two settings: hot and less hot. The sweet spot runs from November through March when temperatures hover around 25-30°C and humidity stays manageable. This is festival season too — Diwali in November, Pongal harvest festival in January, and countless temple festivals throughout. December and January offer the best weather but also the biggest crowds at major temples. Book accommodations early. April through June brings the heat — 35-40°C regularly, sometimes pushing 45°C in inland areas. Only the hill stations stay pleasant during these months. Ooty and Kodaikanal actually get busy as South Indians escape the plains. The monsoon arrives in June and sticks around through September. The southwest monsoon hits the western hills first, then the northeast monsoon soaks the coast from October through December. Rain brings relief from heat but also floods, cancelled trains, and temple closures. Here's the thing about visiting during monsoon: Tamil Nadu looks incredible when green, temple tanks fill with water, and waterfalls roar to life. Just pack patience along with your rain gear. Shoulder seasons (October-November and March-April) offer decent weather with fewer crowds, but you're gambling with early heat or late rains.
