Tampa Bay Area in October

Great time to visit

October is one of the best months to visit Tampa Bay Area.

All Months

October through April is peak season for good reason. Temperatures hover in the 70s and 80s, humidity drops, and you can actually enjoy being outside during the day. Hotel prices jump accordingly — expect to pay 30-50% more than summer rates. December and January are perfect if you hate crowds and don't mind cooler water. Beach temps drop to the mid-60s some mornings, but by afternoon you're back in shorts. This is when locals reclaim their city. May through September is hot and humid, but it's also when you'll find the best hotel deals. Summer storms roll in most afternoons around 3 PM — they're intense but usually pass quickly. The upside? Fewer crowds and hotel rates drop to $100-150 per night at places that cost $300 in winter. Avoid spring break in March unless you're into that scene. Clearwater and St. Pete Beach turn into party central, and good luck finding a quiet spot on the sand.
