October through March is your window. Peak season runs December to February when daytime temperatures hover around 25°C and nights drop to 5°C - perfect for camel treks and outdoor dining. Book accommodations three months ahead during this period, especially around Christmas and New Year when prices double. November and March offer the best balance of good weather and reasonable prices. You'll still need warm clothes for evening - desert temperatures can swing 20°C between day and night. March sees the Desert Festival in Jaisalmer, featuring folk performances and camel races, but expect crowds and inflated rates. Avoid April through September unless you enjoy 45°C heat and sandstorms. The monsoon (July-September) brings some relief but also makes desert roads impassable. Some camps close entirely during these months. If you must visit in summer, stick to early morning and late evening activities, and budget for higher air conditioning costs.
