Tonlé Sap in June

Not the best time

June isn't ideal for Tonlé Sap. Consider a different month.

All Months

Dry season from November to March offers the best experience. Water levels drop, revealing stilted houses that tower 8 meters above muddy ground. February brings perfect weather — 28°C days, cool evenings, minimal rain. This is peak bird watching season when migratory species crowd Prek Toal sanctuary. But wet season has its magic. June through October transforms the landscape into an endless sea. Villages float freely, and you can boat directly between houses. The downside? Heavy rains, muddy roads, and some areas become inaccessible. April and May bring scorching heat — 40°C isn't uncommon. The worst time is late May when the rains start but haven't filled the lake yet. Roads turn to swamps, boats can't navigate shallow channels, and everyone waits for the water to rise.
