Patagonian winds can hit 100+ km/h any time of year, turning a simple day hike into an extreme sport. April through October is technically winter, with shorter days, colder temperatures, and many services closed. However, winter brings crystal-clear skies and snow-capped peaks that are genuinely stunning — if you can handle temperatures dropping to -5°C and only 8 hours of daylight. The shoulder months of October and April offer the best compromise: fewer crowds, decent weather, and some services still operating.
