Welsh Countryside in January

Not the best time

January isn't ideal for Welsh Countryside. Consider a different month.

All Months

May through September gives you the best weather odds, though 'best' is relative in Wales. Summer temperatures rarely top 75°F, and rain is always possible - pack layers and waterproofs regardless of season. July and August bring the warmest weather but also the biggest crowds at places like Snowdonia and the Gower Peninsula. September often delivers the sweet spot: fewer tourists, decent weather, and autumn colors in the valleys. Spring arrives late here - don't expect much green before April - but May can be spectacular when the bluebells bloom in places like Penllergare Valley Woods. Winter has its own appeal if you're into cozy pubs and dramatic skies, though many attractions run reduced hours. The mountains get proper snow most winters, making them popular with hikers who know what they're doing. Just remember that Welsh weather changes fast - I've experienced sunshine, rain, and hail in the same afternoon more times than I can count.
