West Michigan in April

Good time to visit

April is a reasonable time to visit West Michigan.

All Months

May through September gives you the full West Michigan experience, but each month brings something different. May means tulip season in Holland and fewer crowds at the dunes. June starts beach weather with water temps finally hitting swimmable (if you're brave). July and August bring peak summer — warm lake water, packed beaches, and every festival happening at once. This is family time, but book accommodations months ahead. September might be the sweet spot: warm days, cool nights, harvest season at wineries, and beaches mostly to yourself. The shoulder months offer serious savings on lodging. Winter? Only worth it if you're into cross-country skiing or ice fishing. Most lakeside attractions close, and the lake-effect snow can be brutal.
