Yangshuo in August
Not the best time
August equals peak misery with relentless heat and massive crowds from Chinese summer holidays. Unless you thrive in tropical conditions and don't mind paying premium prices for a sweaty experience, skip this month entirely.
Weather
August continues the brutal heat cycle with slightly less rainfall but even higher humidity. Temperatures rarely drop below 30°C, even at night. The karst peaks trap hot air, making Yangshuo feel like a furnace most afternoons.

All Months
April through May brings perfect weather – warm but not sweltering, with spring flowers blooming in the countryside. The rice terraces start turning green, and you can cycle all day without melting.
September through November offers the year's best conditions. Temperatures hover around 25°C, humidity drops, and autumn colors paint the karst landscape. November especially delivers crystal-clear skies perfect for photography.
Avoid July and August unless you enjoy swimming in your own sweat. Summer temperatures hit 35°C with crushing humidity, and sudden thunderstorms can wash out outdoor plans. Winter (December-February) stays mild but gray, with persistent drizzle that obscures the mountain views you came here to see.
