Amazon Rainforest in December
Not the best time
December isn't ideal for Amazon Rainforest. Consider a different month.
All Months
The Amazon has two seasons: wet (December-May) and dry (June-November). Each offers completely different experiences. Dry season means lower water levels, more hiking opportunities, and easier wildlife spotting as animals concentrate around remaining water sources. You can walk through areas that are underwater half the year. But rivers shrink, limiting boat access to remote areas. Wet season floods the forest floor, creating an aquatic wonderland where you can canoe through treetops. Wildlife disperses but bird watching peaks. The shoulder months - June and November - offer the best of both worlds. Water levels are manageable, weather is less extreme, and you avoid peak tourist crowds. Here's what nobody tells you: mosquitoes are worst during wet season, but dry season brings biting flies called botflies. There's no perfect time, just different trade-offs.
