Big Island - Hawaii in February

Not the best time

February isn't ideal for Big Island - Hawaii . Consider a different month.

All Months

April through June gives you the best weather without peak crowds. Temperatures hover around 80°F, trade winds keep humidity down, and hotel rates drop after spring break. September through November works too — hurricane season sounds scary but rarely affects the Big Island directly. December through March brings humpback whales but also the highest prices and biggest crowds. Summer gets hot and sticky, especially on the Kona side. But here's the thing about Big Island weather — it changes every few miles. Kona averages 10 inches of rain per year while Hilo gets 130 inches. You can literally drive from desert to rainforest in 20 minutes. Pack layers because you might need shorts at sea level and a jacket at Mauna Kea's summit on the same day. The best surf hits the north shores from October to April.
