Central Valley in August
Not the best time
August isn't ideal for Central Valley. Consider a different month.
All Months
March through May is perfect - wildflowers bloom, temperatures hover in the 70s, and you can actually enjoy being outside. Fall (September through November) brings harvest season, when wineries are buzzing and farmers markets overflow with fresh produce. Summer is brutal. We're talking 100°F+ days that make sightseeing miserable unless you're poolside by noon. But summer does mean stone fruit season - peaches, plums, and apricots that taste nothing like grocery store versions. Winter brings tule fog that can reduce visibility to zero, making driving dangerous. Plus, many outdoor attractions close or reduce hours. If you're here for wine tasting, harvest time (late August through October) offers the most action, but book accommodations early.
