Tayrona National Park in May

Good time to visit

May is a reasonable time to visit Tayrona National Park.

All Months

December through April gives you the driest weather and calmest seas. January and February are peak season — expect crowds but also the best conditions for swimming and photography. March and April offer a sweet spot with fewer people and still-decent weather. The park closes completely in February for ecosystem recovery, so don't plan around that month. May through November brings rain, humidity, and rougher Caribbean waters. But here's the upside — fewer tourists and lusher jungle. If you can handle getting soaked, October offers some of the most dramatic scenery. Avoid Colombian holiday weekends unless you enjoy hiking single-file behind 200 other people.
